If you've cleared the debris and water is still spilling over, the clog isn't the problem — something else is.
A roof's pitch and surface area determine how much water flows into the gutter during a heavy Richardson downpour. If the gutter or downspouts were sized for a smaller roof, or a different rainfall intensity, they can be overwhelmed by volume alone even when completely clear.
Gutters need a slight, consistent slope toward the downspouts to move water efficiently. A section installed too flat, or one that's sagged out of alignment over time, can pool water and spill over the front edge before it ever reaches a downspout.
A long gutter run with only one downspout at the end can struggle to drain fast enough during an intense storm, even with nothing blocking it. Adding a second downspout partway along the run is a common fix for this exact problem.
Sometimes what looks like overflow is actually water running behind the gutter because it's pulled away from the fascia, or splashing off the roof edge and missing the gutter entirely due to a damaged drip edge.
